We are thrilled to announce that Hippo and ENGIE have been shortlisted for Data Team of the Year (<20 people) at the upcoming British Data Awards. This recognition highlights the power of our integrated partnership and our shared commitment to driving strategic data transformation.

A data-driven partnership

The joint recognition celebrates a collaboration between Hippo and ENGIE to transition the energy organisation from reactive data management to proactive analysis. By working as a specialist blended team of data engineers, business analysts, and delivery leaders, we helped reposition data as a primary driver of commercial performance rather than an operational cost.

Together, the project team facilitated a comprehensive data transformation, converting a fragmented information landscape into a unified ‘Single Source of Truth’ for energy retail operations. This initiative has fundamentally enhanced ENGIE’s financial transparency, optimised operational cash flow, and established a robust framework for data-driven commercial decision-making.

Sustainable transformation and capability building

Beyond the technical delivery, a critical objective of this partnership was sustainable capability building and the provision of long-term institutional value. By ensuring comprehensive knowledge transfer throughout the project, the team helped guarantee that ENGIE’s internal staff gained the expertise necessary to govern their data independently.

This transition has successfully supported ENGIE in their organisational culture shift toward a data-led approach, ensuring they are equipped to maintain a competitive advantage within the UK energy sector.

We are incredibly proud of Hippo’s role in this team’s hard work, agility, and results-orientated culture. We look forward to celebrating alongside fellow data innovators at the British Data Awards Ceremony in London on the 20th of May 2026!
