Trying to turn AI ambition into something that actually works in a live service?
AI Public Sector Week 2026 is a free online programme from 16 to 20 March, hosted by Digital Leaders, bringing together teams across government and health who are working through the practical parts. Governance, adoption, data, assurance and what it takes to make AI useful without adding risk.
Hippo is speaking across three sessions during the week, each focused on what makes AI hold up in practice:
- Heather James will be joined by Suze Hawkins and Matthew Wilkes in Building AI capability in government at scale, sharing how a department and supplier partnered to build lasting AI confidence, from hands-on learning through to policy engagement and service focused workshops.
- Ed Hiley will be talking about Innovation without risk: generating open source synthetic data using LLMs for virtual wards, showing how teams can use realistic synthetic data to design and test virtual ward scenarios sooner, explore inequality and reduce delays without using real patient records.
- Anna Lay will be sharing Predicting patient risk: how Mid Yorkshire NHS Trust built trust in generative AI, walking through how a clinical prioritisation proof of concept supported pharmacy teams, kept judgement with clinicians and made outputs easier to understand, question and use.
If you are trying to make AI useful in your organisation without cutting corners on safety or trust, these sessions should give you practical ideas you can take back into delivery.
Register for free, dip into the talks that match what you are tackling, and catch up on anything you miss.
