Moving beyond experimentation with AI to real-world application brings opportunity, but it also makes the starting point even more important. The question is not simply where AI can be used, but where it can genuinely help a service work better.
Jon Tucker, Director of AI at Hippo, explores how organisations can move from curiosity around AI to practical use, without losing sight of the people at the centre of the service.
That means starting with the problem first. Where is there friction? Where are teams losing time? Where could better insight support better decisions?
It also means building responsibility into the work from the start:
• Making AI understandable to the people using it
• Keeping accountability clear
• Reducing the risk of bias
• Building trust through explainable decisions
AI cannot be treated as an add on or a shortcut, but used well, it can support better services. But that only happens when it is grounded in human need, supported by the right data and designed with trust, fairness and accountability in mind.
