Report: Qualitative insights concerning the UK Digital Identity scheme
Hippo commissioned a qualitative research report in December 2025 to engage with the public and with the aim of understanding the downtrend in sentiment toward the national Digital ID scheme.
- Learn about misconceptions: A central finding of the research was a generally low familiarity with the specific details of the scheme among participants.
- Understand the need for clarity: The study highlights the challenge and the necessity of clear communication on a national identity scheme and its associated benefits.
- Explore citizens' needs: Security, convenience and trust were key to participants in this study. Security arose as the primary "deal-breaker" for successful adoption of digital IDs.
eBook: Designing better prompts
AI tools accelerate work, but consistent results require us to treat a prompt as a brief, not a command. The new eBook, Designing Better Prompts, introduces six habits rooted in design thinking, like clarity and context, to transform trial-and-error prompting into an intentional, repeatable process. This framework helps teams use AI responsibly and efficiently by focusing on designing for better output.

Our talks at Global Government Forum Innovation 2026
Why do we care about digital identity in government?
In an era of rapid technological advancement we can often be drawn to the “new and shiny.” We are quite rightly looking for the innovation that AI, and more recently Agentic AI, brings to Government. However, these innovations rest upon a more fundamental, human-centred tension: how we know our citizens and how we use that information.
This session looks at the core of the identity proposition. We will address a challenge shared across every corner of the public sector: the friction between leveraging identity and data for the “greater good” and maintaining the trust and comfort of the individuals we serve.
We’ll be sharing insights and lessons learned from real world delivery across the public sector, including NHS login, GOV.UK One Login and the Department for Education, outlining an actionable strategy for building cross-government services that are as secure as they are seamless.
- Presented by Rheanna O'Donoghue, Education Delivery Director, and Jim Small, Director of Identity at Hippo
- 2:40pm on Wednesday 25th March
How AI is helping NHS teams deliver better digital services
The challenge for the NHS is not just to deliver more digital change. It is to do so in a way that reduces waste, makes better use of scarce specialist time and improves services for staff and patients.
This session looks at AI through that practical lens. Rather than treating AI as a separate innovation agenda, it explores how AI tools can support the everyday work of delivery teams. Designers can move beyond static artefacts into rapid coded prototypes. Engineers can automate more of their routine implementation work and focus more on testing, resilience and maintainability. Product and delivery teams can get to evidence earlier and make better decisions before cost and complexity build up.
Drawing on real delivery experience, including work with NHS England, the talk will show where AI can help teams work differently, not just faster. It will cover the changes to roles, collaboration and governance that matter if organisations want to use AI well, and it will show how those changes can unlock service improvement and measurable efficiency.
This is a session about applying AI in a grounded way: improving how teams work, improving what gets delivered, and creating better value from digital investment.
