Identity continues to shape how people access services, protect their information and establish trust online. As technology, regulation and user expectations change, organisations need to consider how identity services can remain secure, inclusive and easy to use.

The next Identity Up North event will bring together people working across digital identity, technology, security, design and delivery. It will be an opportunity to explore current challenges, hear different perspectives and discuss what the future of digital trust could look like.

Further information about the speakers and sessions will be announced soon.

Nobody wants to prove who they are: Designing identity UX that people don’t hate
Andy Turner, Content Designer, Hippo

Every day, tens of millions of people are asked to prove who they are before they can access something they need – a GP appointment, a bank account, a benefit payment. Unlike many digital experiences, identity UX can’t be made “delightful”. The friction is the point. So what does good design actually look like when you can’t remove the barrier, only make it less painful?

Andy will cover how identity UX breaks conventional user-centred design, the impact of passkeys on identity UX and the language of trust.

AI Identity for Agentic Experiences: Trust and Security in the AI Era
Kenta Barrett, Senior Solutions Engineer, Okta

We are standing at the precipice of a new era in digital interactions. With UCP coming soon to the UK after its rollout in the US and Australia, it is time to start thinking about how to take advantage of the AI-driven market without exposing organizations to reputational damage. As we move into the “Agentic Era” of commerce, the way we authenticate and manage identity must evolve. We need to strike the perfect balance between keeping the bad actors out and ensuring the customer experience remains incredibly smooth and deeply rooted in trust.

What Kenta will cover:

  • The Evolution of Identity: A brief history of Customer Identity from 2000 to the present day.
  • CX in the Agentic Era: How to maintain a smooth and seamless customer experience when AI agents are in the mix.
  • Securing Agentic Commerce: Frameworks for applying strong, uncompromising security across new AI commerce channels.
  • Preparing for UCP: Actionable steps to get ahead of the curve and safely leverage the new market opportunities arriving in the UK.
