Service designer

We are looking for experienced service designer to join the team. You can be based in the North West, the Midlands, or in London. Please note that this is an experience design role, not an ITIL Service Designer role.

What you will do

  • Design an end-to-end journey which meets the needs of the users and gives the client the outcome they need
  • Plan and organise how the people, infrastructure, communications and components of the service come together within the service
  • Improve the relationship between the service provider and its customers by designing a better service
  • Make sure that the service is designed to be operable as well as user centred
  • Learn from insights from user research and metrics to define and improve the service, and explain your decisions clearly
  • Work in an agile, collaborative, multidisciplinary team
  • Build great relationships with your team and with stakeholders
  • Run workshops with your team and stakeholders
  • Advocate for user-centred design
  • Work with the hippo design community to share best practice to ensure high standards

Skills and experience that you need

You will need to:
  • A detailed knowledge of a wide range of UX and service design techniques
  • Experience of user-centred design practices
  • Experience of research analysis techniques including quantitative analysis such as analysis specification, verbatim coding, and text analytics
  • Specialist knowledge of digital design practices, tools and techniques experience of planning and conducting user research
  • To enjoy working collaboratively with your team and experts
  • Strong stakeholder management skills
  • Strong workshop facilitation skills
  • To be comfortable working in rapid sprint cycles
  • To have a positive “can do” attitude
  • To sell the benefits of service design to people who are unfamiliar with the discipline
  • To have great consultancy skills, caring about your client’s needs and motivations
  • To enjoy sharing your skills and experience with your client to enable them to continue to iterate the service after you leave
It would be great if you also have:
  • Experience of working in the public sector
  • Experience of working in an agile workplace
