Did you know:
“Over 1 billion people in the world have some form of disability, that’s 1 in 7. It can affect all us at any time in our lives. In a growing global movement over 160 countries have signed the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. True inclusion comes from a world that accepts all human difference, where people demand their voices to be heard. #PurpleLightUp will unify a global call to action.”

On Monday 3rd December it was International Day of Persons with Disabilities. It was also #PurpleLightUp and we hosted an event to mark the day.
It was a delight to welcome a group of staff from NHS Digital into our new event space in the centre of Leeds.
On the day.
The day consisted of speaker sessions from their own colleagues real experiences of living with long term conditions, networking, discussion around the needs of disabled people and some pretty amazing cake.
The theme was inclusion and served to highlight the work of the NHS around website design, services and so staff could gain an understanding of accessibility.
As a designer of services within the public sector we recognise the need to make these accessible for all.
Hippo spend a great deal of time carrying out comprehensive user research to ensure that what we build is fit for everyone to use and is truly inclusive.
As a team we felt that the Purple light up was important to support. It highlights the ongoing work that needs to be done. This is to ensure that people with disabilities have their voices heard and needs addressed.
As an organisation we are passionate about public services and it was truly inspiring to host so many people with shared vision in our Hippo home.
