So after almost 14 years in the civil service working my way through departments, from Defra to Government Digital Service, I finally decided to leave.
Why? Well I refer back to my core purpose: wanting to put back into society, so being a civil servant was my way of being altruistic and doing that. However, for me civil service lacks the flexibility to move around easily to share digital experience and knowledge.
So by joining Hippo Digital, a bunch of really talented digital experts and overall good eggs, it’s an even better way for me to support and enable the public sector to build, not just good, but great digital services. Thus, I am truly sad to be leaving but super excited to take on the next big challenge and add value.
I just wanted to say thank you to everyone I’ve worked with. THANK YOU!
I’ve had the pleasure of working in and with some really complex and groundbreaking digital transformation projects, including GOV.UK Verify, across GDS, DWP, HMRC, NHS Digital, Defra, Local Authorities, Police Constabularies, NHS Trusts and Clinical Commissioning Groups.
Now, a little more about Hippo Digital.
It was really important for me to join an ethical company, where one of the key principles is to do the right thing…sometimes the right thing might not be building a digital service…but if it is, then we take a user centred and agile approach to discover, design and deliver great services.
I’m really looking forward to working with team, together we’ve got extensive experience in:
- Agile and delivery management
- User research and user centred design
- Psychology, behaviour and culture
- Content design
- Digital identity and access management
- Digital and cloud-based technologies
So whilst some people might be offended to be called a Hippo, I’m not. In fact, I’m extremely proud to say I’m a Hippo and part of the Hippo Digital team.
